Basic Life Support (BLS)
This training program is designed more specifically to form a core team of first aider with extensive knowledge of first aid techniques.
Duration: 08/16 Hours
Theory:
- Introduction to first aid.
- Objectives/Responsibilities of first aider.
- Assessment of casualty/unconsciousness.
- History
- Situation
- Signs
- Symptoms
- Anatomy of human body- discussion on respiratory, circulatory, and skeletal system of our body.
- Asphyxia/Airway obstruction- choking(adult & Infant), asthma, drowning.
- Resuscitation (CPR)- methods of artificial respiration & chest compression.
- Heart attack & cardiac arrest.
- First aid management of following injuries:
- Bleeding, wounds & shock.
- Injuries to bone joints and muscles- triangular bandage & arm slings.
- Neck & spinal injuries.
- Heat injuries- heat stroke, heat exhaustion, hypothermia.
- Eye/Ear/Nose injuries.
- Epilepsy/Fits.
- Poisonous bites & Stings.
- Burn injuries- 9% rule of burns, types of burns.
- Amputations
Practical:
- Recovery position
- Assessment of casualty
- CPR practical on manikin for all the participants
- Artificial respiration using pocket CPR mask & AMBU Bag
- Demonstration of AED
- Management of fractures & dislocations- modified splinting/body splinting
- Different types of bandaging by using triangular bandage and roller bandage
- Management of spinal and neck injuries and lifting techniques
- Stretcher drill
- Modification techniques to make stretcher using available resources like bed sheet / jacket
- Methods of evacuation of casualty using manual techniques

Course is designed for safety officers, industrial employees, staff, security personal, nurses, students, teachers and anyone who wishes to be a part of life saving team or emergency response team.
